Is 21 Scoops Too Much Ice Cream?

Remember when you ate too much ice cream as a kid and afterwards your tummy ached?”

Wendy Margolese in Ontario, Canada, writing about health from a spiritual perspective, quickly caught my attention with this opening question in a recent article.

When I was a kid, our family frequented an ice cream parlor on Friday nights. And I remember once eating a huge ice cream sundae called the “Dare to be great” sundae. The place is still there and you can still get this sundae, which comes with a whopping 21 scoops of ice cream. As I recall, I did finish it, but it didn’t sit real well.

Margolese continues, “Fast forward to your adult experience.  What if the drug you are taking is too high a dosage or has side effects?” She’s writing about the trend of over-diagnosing and over-medicating being moderated by patients taking greater personal responsibility for their health. One aspect of getting into the driver’s seat, she notes, is patients often “want their religious or spiritual background/beliefs brought in to their treatment.”
